Cooking

I’m not a cook, but I’ve played one as a parent and could likely do so on TV.
This section collects a few of the things I've learned and a few recipes that have positive feedback.

Notes

Bachelor stew

A quick stew ideal for low sodium diets.

Low sodium burrito filling

A low sodium reinterpretation of burrito filling that brings Taco Tuesday back to the menu.

Fluffy scrambled eggs

My trick for making fluffy scrambled eggs.

Pumpkin pie recipe

My version of a well-known pumpkin pie recipe, tweaked to balance sweetness against flavor. Supports low sugar diets.

About my cooking

I don’t consider myself much of a cook; however, I have picked up a few tricks.

As a single parent, for example, I taught myself how to prepare a traditional holiday dinner (roast turkey, stuffing, and so on). I felt it was important to provide my daughter with as close to a traditional experience as I could.

My version may not be as ambitious as some, however, it includes traditional favorites and generally gets fairly high marks.

For the last several years, I’ve been the primary cook (and bottle washer) for holiday meals in my family, even through a variety of detail changes.

I enjoy cooking mainly as a way to connect and share with friends and family. I’m less keen on the effort (and cleanup) when it’s just me.
